Yummly's app and website were taken offline in December 2024. Whirlpool, which bought it in 2017, had laid off the team earlier that year, and yummly.com now points to KitchenAid. Nearly two years on, people still search for a replacement, and no single app has taken over everything it did.
Yummly did three jobs. It was a recipe search engine that learned your tastes, a place to keep the recipes you liked, and a meal planner with a shopping list. Most apps today do one or two of those well. This page sorts the alternatives by which job you want back. We make one of them, so weigh the positioning accordingly. Prices were checked in October 2026.
One app to cross off: Mealime, a common Yummly replacement, was itself discontinued on October 21, 2026. We wrote up what replaces Mealime separately.
If you miss discovering recipes
Samsung Food is the nearest in spirit. Like Yummly, it pairs a large recipe catalogue you can browse with a place to save your own. There is a free tier, and Samsung Food+ is $6.99 a month or $59.99 a year on the App Store.
Sugo is ours. Its discovery suggests recipes by cuisine and by moment, and it ranks recipes by what is already in your pantry. It runs on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Android and the web, and has a free plan with no time limit.
If you miss your saved recipes
Yummly's saved recipes mostly pointed at other websites. A replacement should keep its own copy of each recipe, so the recipe survives if the site that published it goes away, as Yummly did.
Sugo saves from any recipe site, and from TikTok, Instagram, YouTube and Facebook videos, screenshots and photos of book pages. Ingredients and steps are stored as data, so you can scale them and send them to a shopping list.
ReciMe saves from Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook and Pinterest, free for about five imports a week, with ReciMe Plus at $39.99 a year.
Paprika is for recipe websites, bought once: $4.99 on a phone, $29.99 on a computer.
If you miss the meal planner and shopping list
Plan to Eat is a dedicated planner at $5.95 a month or $49 a year. You bring recipes from websites, Instagram, TikTok and Pinterest, and the plan becomes a grocery list sorted by store and aisle.
AnyList has the best shared shopping list, free, with meal planning in AnyList Complete at $9.99 a year.
Sugo plans the week from your saved recipes and turns the plan into one aisle-sorted list. With Famiglia ($79.99 a year), up to 20 people in a household share the plan, list and pantry and vote on dinner.

Questions people ask
Is Yummly still available?
No. Yummly's app and website were taken offline in December 2024, and the website now points to KitchenAid.
What is the best free Yummly alternative?
For discovery plus saving, Samsung Food and Sugo both have free plans. For a free shopping list, AnyList.
Can I get my Yummly recipes back?
Not from Yummly, which is offline. Most saved Yummly recipes came from other websites, so searching for the dish and the original site usually finds the page, which you can then save in an app that keeps its own copy.
