Paprika alternatives: buy-once and subscription apps
Paprika 4 moves new features to a subscription and still has no free tier. The best Paprika alternatives, from buy-once apps to ones that save TikTok recipes.

Paprika has been the default recipe manager for people who want to buy software once and keep it. Two things have people looking around in 2026. Paprika 4, in open beta, adds social media import, AI photo scanning and family accounts, and those new features will need a subscription at a price not yet announced. And Paprika 3, the version you buy today, still cannot save a recipe from a video, which is where a lot of recipes live now.
Neither is a reason to leave if Paprika works for you: what you already bought keeps working, and the subscription is optional. If you are looking anyway, the apps below do the same job, split by whether you want to pay once or are fine paying yearly. We make one of the apps on this list. Prices were checked in October 2026 on each app's own site or store listing.
What you would be giving up
Paprika is $4.99 on a phone and $29.99 on Mac or Windows, bought once per platform, with no free tier. Its built-in browser strips a recipe page down to ingredients and steps faster than anything else here, it turns cook times in the directions into timers, and it is one of the few recipe managers with a real Windows app. Any replacement should be judged against those three things.
If you want to keep paying once
Recipe Keeper is the closest match. It is free to try, with a $19.99 one-time Pro upgrade on the App Store, and it runs on iPhone, iPad, Android, Windows and Mac. It scans photos and PDFs of recipes, plans meals by week or month, and keeps a shopping list grouped by aisle.
Crouton is free for 20 recipes, then $24.99 once for Crouton Plus. It is Apple only and syncs through your own iCloud. It also imports a Paprika export, which makes it the easiest one-time-purchase move for an all-Apple household. AI photo and PDF import is a separate $14.99-a-year subscription.
Mela is free to download and needs a one-time purchase to unlock everything (on the Mac, Mela+ is $14.99). It runs on iPhone, iPad and Mac, syncs through iCloud, scans recipes from books and can follow recipe blogs for new posts. As with Crouton, there is no Android or Windows version.
If a subscription is fine
Sugo is ours. It saves recipes from links, TikTok, Instagram, YouTube and Facebook videos (including steps that are only spoken aloud), screenshots and photos of book pages. It tracks your pantry and ranks saved recipes by what you can cook tonight, reads steps aloud and takes voice commands. It runs on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Android and in any browser, so Windows is covered through the web. It imports your Paprika library directly. The free plan includes cook mode, the pantry and a meal plan, with monthly import limits; Sugo+ is $59.99 a year.
ReciMe saves from Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook and Pinterest, free for about five imports a week. ReciMe Plus is $39.99 a year.
Plan to Eat is for people who used Paprika mainly to plan meals. It is $5.95 a month or $49 a year, with a 14-day trial, and turns a meal plan into a grocery list sorted by store and aisle.

Moving your recipes out of Paprika
Paprika can export your whole library to a single file. Crouton and Sugo both import that file and keep ingredients and steps as structured data. For the others, check their import options before you buy, because re-saving a large library by hand is the real cost of switching.
